Payment Manager - Tips

Would you like to receive your bills electronically in Payment Manager?

An e-bill is an electronic version of your bill that can be retrieved directly within Payment Manager so you can view and pay bills at your convenience from one location. Once you select an e-bill with a company, they will most likely stop sending you paper bills in the mail.

You can view your bills one of two ways; when adding a new payee there is an option to select e-bill if it is available from the company you are paying.   If it is an existing payee that has already been created and e-bill service is available, the link will be located under the company name and an e-bill can be set up at anytime. To set up an e-bill, you will usually need information from your last billing statement.

I’ve noticed some Payees do not allow me to change the remittance address.

The Company that process bill payments for GFA has relationships with some companies that allow us to send your payment to their payment office directly allowing for faster posting time.  Your bill is guaranteed to be received by the paid on date shown when you schedule your payment.

I want to cancel or edit a scheduled payment.

You can cancel or edit a scheduled payment one of two ways; in Payment Manager, on the right hand side under pending payments you can choose edit or cancel.  Additionally, under the Payee name, you can click on the pending payment and then choose edit or cancel.

I pay bills from more than one GFA Checking Account.

To add a funding account, you can call us directly at 978-632-2542 to have it added immediately or you can click on the “add funding account” bar and type in your GFA checking account information.  Within two to three business days you will receive two small deposits and a corresponding withdrawal into the account you want to add.  Once you verify this information in Payment Manager, your funding account will be activated.

You can change your “default” funding account at any time.

To change your default funding account (the primary account that all of your bills are paid from), you must have two funding accounts available.  Go into the “funding accounts screen”, you will see “default” next to one account and “no” with the word change next to all other accounts listed.  To change the default account, click on “change” next to the account that you want to be the funding account.  Now all of your payments will be drawn from this account unless you specify otherwise.

You can also pay a recurring payment from a different account.

To pay a specific bill from an account other than your default account; Select ‘Make Payments’

Click on payee name, choose view/change payee details and Under Automatic Payments, click Change option. In the funding account drop down menu choose which checking account is to be used for this specific payee and the Click Save Changes.

You can assign a different funding account for a one time payment for a specific payee

Select ‘Make Payments’, prior to entering the payment amount and date, click on the blue arrow beside the ‘pay from’ account (your current default funding account number is listed). Choose the account you want to pay from, enter the amount, date and click pay.

I'd like to change or stop e-mail notifications from Payment Manager

Within Payment Manager scroll to the bottom right and under Other tasks, select Alert Preferences.  You can set when you get alerts for Payments, eBills, and when vendors or funding accounts are added or edited.

I want the ability to expedite payments.

Have you forgotten to schedule a payment?  You can make a next day payment by; clicking on the expedited payments tab, and choosing the payee you want to pay.  You will then be brought to a screen that will show you your payment options, associated costs and delivery date.

I want to remove a Payee that I no longer use.

To delete or deactivate a payee, click on the payee name, then View/Change Payee Details. From here you can then either “Delete” or “Deactivate” the Payee. Please note if you delete the payee you will lose the history detail of that payee.

I need to add a new payee.

To add a new payee, go to the Make Payments screen and type the payee’s name into the “pay someone new” box.  You will then be prompted for some account specific information.  If the Payee has a relationship with our bill payment provider, the best address for payment remittance will automatically populate.

I want the nickname for my funding account(s) to match the nickname in Express Finance

To nick name your accounts in payment manager, go to the “funding accounts” screen and click on the account you want to nickname.  A funding account nickname box will pop up; type in the nickname and save your changes.

I want to print all of my pending confirmations at once.

If you want to print all pending payment confirmations at one time, first schedule all of your payments and then click the “print confirmation” button next to the pending payments column.
