Young Savers Start at GFA Federal Credit Union

Student Savings Options

The secret to a life of financial security is simple… start saving at a young age! GFA Federal Credit Union makes it easy for you to do so with two programs geared toward those under 20 years of age: Savings Safari Club and Student Tycoon Club. Each program promotes and rewards members who make regular deposits to their accounts. And for those ready for a premium rate on their deposits, a special Student Saver Certificate.

GFA Federal Credit Union's commitment to local students is evident through our school banking days program. Students can make deposits into their accounts while in school. We also conduct classes preparing students for their financial futures.

Student Loans

If you are planning to send a child to college or go to college yourself, make higher education affordable through one of the federal government's Student Loan options. Three types of programs are available. The Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan Program is granted on financial need and is for undergraduate and graduate students attending accredited schools at least half time. The Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan Program is for students, regardless of their income level. And, the Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) is earmarked for the parents of students depending on them for their financial needs.

  • Depending on the type of loan you choose, repayments take place in up to 12 years, unless a special repayment option is used.
  • Check the Free Government Money web site or call 800-999-9080 for more details.
