Young Adults (ages 13-18)
Your teen years are a great time to build strong financial skills and we offer a variety of solutions to help you do just that. From savings to your first checking account to student loans, we’ve got options for all your financial needs
As the cost of both public and private colleges and universities continues to increase, funding sources have not kept pace. GFA offers a private Student Loan option to cover the gaps left after grants, scholarships and federal loan options have been exhausted. You can now get supplemental financing for a college education through your trusted, local institution and enjoy the high level of service for which we’re known. At GFA, we exist to serve you, our Members, not to make a profit.
The David Jacques Memorial Scholarship was founded in 2007 in recognition of a great man’s legacy. David was a man who embraced the credit union philosophy as both a friend and advisor to GFA. He was committed to the value provided through GFA Membership and his contributions included over 25 years on our Board of Directors, serving as Chairman two times.
Throughout the community, David was known for his dedication to local organizations and a strong reputation as a local business owner who truly embodied commitment to the community.
In his honor, the David Jacques Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a local student who best exemplifies the values and ideals David stood for.
When you turn 15, you become eligible to open your first checking account at GFA! Our
Student Checking (Check Ease) will give you access to your money as you learn how to manage a checking account. You’ll just need a parent or legal guardian to be a joint account holder with you.
*Overdraft Protection is not available on Student Checking Accounts.
Once you open your Student Checking (and you’re at least 15) you can get a
Debit Card to access your account on the go. Your debit card will have a low daily limit to help you manage your money wisely and can be used wherever MasterCard is accepted.
If you’re at least 14 you can get an
ATM card to access the money in your Student Tycoon Savings or Student Checking (must be at least 15) at ATMs worldwide. And your low daily withdrawal limit will help you manage your money wisely.

Student Saver Certificate
Once you’ve saved up $250 (and you’re still under 18) you can open a special Student Saver Certificate!
This term share certificate gives you a higher dividend rate for a 12-month term, so your savings can grow even faster.
