Business Development Coordinator

GFA is seeking a motivative and outgoing individual to foster relationships in the community and develop personal and business membership.

Under the direction of the VP/Marketing Director the Business Development Coordinator (BDC) is responsible for the cultivation and development of both personal and business membership acquisition, by nurturing, strengthening and growing relationships. In conjunction with other team members the BDC supports existing and potential members including but not limited to small businesses and nonprofits. The BDC will be an expert in delivering knowledgeable and able to present on financial educational, products, and services, to fulfill duties within the communities and bring in potential new accounts to the credit union. The BDC will maintain accurate reports and records of existing and potential relationships, and will work closely with the Regional Retail Managers, Residential Lending, and Commercial Lending teams to support the above-mentioned expectations.


  • Manage and develop existing Advisory Board Groups to assist with brand awareness, new product testing, and acquisition of new relationships with traditional consumer and small business members.
  • Collaborate and consult with perspective chambers and organizations to manage organic and paid involvement to foster building new relationships and growing existing relationships.
  • Represent and promote GFAFCU at business development events and activities. Maintain a strong, visible corporate image at business and community events.

  • Present financial literacy courses in the community that provides financial inclusion to underserved communities and promotes GFAFCU as a community leader.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively support and partner with other business lines within the Credit Union to identify sales opportunities and provide an outstanding Member experience while working to attain organizational goal. Become the expert of the needs within the designated market.
  • Evaluate existing relationships and develop a working pipeline of contacts / organizations, manage the process from lead generation relationship management.
  • Contribute to the creation and execution of the marketing and business development strategic planning to support initiatives outlined in the full strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Coordinator to develop needed business materials. Execute on marketing and business development initiatives including social media and events.
  • Effectively understand and profile members to recommend appropriate financial products and services. Proactively offers ideas and solutions to help members recognize possibilities and strategies that will help them build and strengthen their financial position.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of and competency with products, services, cross sales, and the Credit Unions consumer and business member acquisition strategy.
  • Success will be measured by effectiveness in areas such as but not limited to community engagement, membership generation, ability to build successful relationships with centers of influence, and propensity to help build upon the awareness of GFA Federal Credit Union for the long term.


  • Remain up to date within the financial industry for emerging trends, best practices, and opportunities to report on and utilize.
  • Generate a bi-weekly activity report for the Senior Leadership Team and provide additional reports as requested by the VP/Marketing Director.
  • Think proactively in leading organizational changes regarding database information to ensure information is easily attainable and utilized.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of all activities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Models and promotes the behaviors of the Credit Union’s core values, actively works to enhance the member and employee experience throughout the Credit Union.
  • Participates in the Credit Union’s Community/Civic Engagement Program which requires participation in one community event each calendar year.
  • Acts as a role model for staff by completing tasks in a timely and accurate manner. Demonstrates a commitment to learning by cross training on other functions as required.
  • Participates, completes and attends mandatory training and/or online assignment for regulatory compliance.
  • This position does require nontraditional banking hours.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 2+ Years Financial Industry Experience
  • Marketing / Business Development / Sales Experience Preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong public speaking skills / presenting
  • Strong ability to handle fluctuating priorities with efficiency and accuracy

Physical Requirements:

  • General Office Environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Driver’s License and ability to travel within GFA footprint
