GFA is dedicated to the communities in which we serve and we feel that students should be recognized when they demonstrate good citizenship and excellent scholastic achievements. GFA is proud to offer scholarship opportunities for students looking to continue their education.

David Jacques Memorial Scholarship

GFA Credit Union will be awarding the David Jacques Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $2,000.00.

  • Eligibility is limited to high school seniors who will be enrolled in an undergraduate college/university degree program during the 2025 - 2026 academic year. Preference will be given to those pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or business. Immediate family members of employees, officers, directors, supervisory committee member or anyone serving in an official capacity of the credit union are not qualified.
  • Applicant or parent/guardian must be a member of GFA Credit Union.
  • Each applicant must complete the current scholarship application form below, accompanied by the required materials.

Students must submit the following items with their completed application form:

  1. Submit an essay, (250 words or less) describing the value of being a member of a Credit Union vs. a Bank.
  2. An academic transcript of grades.
  3. Extracurricular/community activities

Deadline to apply for the David Jacques Memorial Scholarship is May 9, 2025.

GFA Student Visionary Award

GFA will be awarding the Student Visionary Award to one deserving student. The chosen student will receive $2,000.00 for their efforts and exemplary actions.

STUDENTS ARE NOMINATED BY AN INFLUENTIAL ADULT.

Often students are recognized for their scholastic achievements and at GFA we believe students should also be praised when they demonstrate strong qualities of character and good citizenship.

The GFA Student Visionary Award serves the purpose of instilling character and helping perpetuate the ideals of helping people among youth. The award is given to a current high school senior who is devoted to setting forth a vision, much like our founding fathers, that exemplifies the entrepreneurial approach to bettering the lives of others.

Better Banking Scholarship

GFA Credit Union will be awarding the Better Banking Scholarship in the amount of $2,000.00.

  • Eligibility is opened to students at various stages in their academic journey, including high school, college/university, and trade school, who will be enrolled in an undergraduate college/university or trade program during the 2025 - 2026 academic year.
  • Applicant must be a member of GFA Credit Union either directly or by relation.
  • The Better Banking Scholarship will be awarded to 3 recipients: (1) General Submission, (1) Student Advisory Board Member, (1) GFA Employee Immediate Family Member.
  • Each applicant must complete the current scholarship application form below and submit it along with the required essay questions.

Students must submit a response to each of the below essay questions of up to one page in length.

  1. Describe how you have contributed to your community. Please explain how you’ve given back, or share volunteer opportunities in or outside of school that you’ve participated in.
  2. Imagine you are talking with a friend, explain to them the value of a credit union.
  3. Describe your most meaningful achievements and how they relate to your field of study and your future goals.
  4. Student Advisory Board members only: Describe how a piece of the Student Advisory Board program will be of benefit to your future goals.
