We are looking for a knowledgeable, hands-on, and people-focused Residential Lending Manager to help lead our residential mortgage and home equity operations with accuracy, care, accountability, and a strong commitment to member experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for a lending professional who enjoys both leading a team and staying actively involved in the work. The Residential Lending Manager provides day-to-day leadership for residential lending functions including underwriting, processing, closing, funding, and related post-closing activities.

Salary Range: $81,062 - $121,593

As Residential Lending Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring that residential lending activities are accurate, timely, compliant, and consistently executed. You will work closely with the VP, Loan Servicing & Residential Lending Operations, loan originators, loan servicing, collections, attorneys, appraisers, title companies, mortgage insurance providers, and other internal and external partners.

In this role, you will:

  • Underwrite, approve, condition, or deny residential mortgage, home equity loan, and home equity line of credit requests within delegated lending authority.
  • Exercise lending authority above the levels assigned to Residential Underwriters and guide others on credit analysis, policy interpretation, documentation, conditions, exceptions, and loan structure.
  • Review underwriting decisions, credit analyses, loan conditions, exception documentation, and related work completed by Residential Underwriters to support quality, consistency, and compliance.
  • Manage the residential lending pipeline from application through closing, funding, and related post-closing activities, helping remove bottlenecks and support timely member service.
  • Maintain and improve residential lending procedures, workflows, checklists, job aids, and operating guides to strengthen controls, increase capacity, improve turnaround times, and enhance the member and employee experience.
  • Support audits, regulatory examinations, compliance reviews, quality-control testing, root-cause analysis, corrective action plans, and remediation efforts.
  • Monitor and report on pipeline activity, approvals, denials, turnaround times, closings, exceptions, quality results, service levels, and other key performance indicators.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is an experienced residential lending professional who brings sound lending judgment, strong operational discipline, and the ability to develop others while remaining actively engaged in daily lending work.

Candidates should bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related residential lending experience
  • At least 7 years of progressive residential mortgage lending experience, including underwriting, processing, closing, funding, and post-closing activities
  • At least 3 years of independent residential mortgage and home equity underwriting and loan decisioning experience with delegated lending authority
  • At least 2 years of supervisory, lead, or management experience within residential lending, underwriting, or mortgage operations
  • Experience in a credit union, community bank, or regional financial institution environment
  • Strong knowledge of residential processing, underwriting, closing, funding, post-closing, investor, secondary market, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience reviewing underwriting work, performing second-level or quality-control reviews, documenting procedures, improving workflows, and supporting audits or regulatory examinations
  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Encompass and COCC Insight or Fiserv DNA core and servicing platforms is preferred.
