GFA Donates $35,500 to Support Our Communities

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted communities across the country in many different ways. From the record number of individuals that have lost their employment, to the massive strain placed on the healthcare systems in our neighborhood hospitals – the need for the community to come together is as great now as it has ever been. With that backdrop in mind, GFA Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that it is directing over $35,000 in the form of direct financial contributions to the community organizations already making an immediate impact in the face of these unprecedented health and economic challenges.

“It is times like this when as a society we come together and help one another to ensure our community and our citizens are safe and cared for to the best of our collective ability. It’s part of our mission and in our DNA”, said Tina M. Sbrega, President & CEO. We are all doing our best during these uncertain times and GFA wishes to show our support for the great care of our first responders, our nurses, physicians, and all health care workers.

In honor of their work, GFA is presenting donations to the following organizations serving within our communities:

$10,000: Heywood HealthCare
$5,000: Cheshire Medical Center
$5,000: Gardner Visiting Nurses Association
$5,000: Leominster Hospital
$5,000: Monadnock Community Hospital

Hospital officials, thankful for this announcement, stated they will utilize the funds for PPE and ongoing support and of their health care team.

We also recognize the need for restocking food pantries and providing relief to our community citizens that are food insecure. In addition to our front line heroes, GFA will be making donations to numerous food pantries within our primary service areas to help support the work they are doing. Donations of $500.00 each will be made to:

Ashburnham Community Church Food Pantry

Murdock High School Food Pantry
