Longtime GFA Federal Credit Union Director Announces Retirement

Michael T. Horrigan has retired from the GFA Board of Directors after 38 years.

After serving as a volunteer member of GFA Federal Credit Union’s Board of Directors for over 38 years, three of those years as Chief Governance Office, Michael T. Horrigan has announced his retirement as of August 1st, 2021. Horrigan is a Partner of Horrigan Cleaners in Gardner, MA.

“Mike kept the best interest of our members in mind with his dedication to our community and the success of the organization. He was everything you would want in a director and his contributions will be felt for decades to come,” said Gerald L. Bankowski, Chief Governance Officer of the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors is comprised of a volunteer team of community leaders who are committed to providing a shared understanding of the mission, vision, and how to best serve the evolving needs of the credit union’s members. The directors provide strategic direction that prioritizes the financial well-being of the members before profit.

“I am honored to have served on GFA’s Board of Directors. It has been a privilege to be associated with such an outstanding financial institution that is so committed to meeting the needs of its members and communities”, said Horrigan.

Alongside Horrigan, GFA’s Board of Directors have been instrumental to the achievement of the credit union’s recent milestones of surpassing $600MM in assets, opening a state-of-the-art headquarters facility in downtown Gardner and expanding its presence in Southern New Hampshire.

“Mike has been committed to our mission for nearly 40 years. He’s taken part in selecting 3 of the 5 CEO’s in GFA’s history and been at the table for nearly every major strategic decision that makes us the credit union we are today. GFA has been very fortunate to have Mike representing us, and his presence will be missed. We wish Mike the best in a well-deserved retirement,” said Joshua I. Brier, President & Chief Executive Officer of GFA Federal Credit Union.
