GFA Federal Credit Union Awards 2021 Student Scholarships
Each year GFA is honored to present two area high school seniors with a college scholarship for their demonstrated good citizenship, excellent scholastic achievements, and extracurricular engagement.
The GFA Student Visionary Award is presented to a student who demonstrates strong qualities of character and good citizenship, are dedicated to making a difference within their community, and are devoted to setting forth a vision that exemplifies the entrepreneurial approach of bettering the lives of others. Jamie Erickson, a St. Bernard's High School graduate, is this year’s recipient. Jamie has great work ethic in and out of her studies. She enjoys volunteering at a local nursing home and is a strong role model to her peers. She believes if students start volunteering at a young age, they will learn how good it feels and see what a positive impact it has on their community. She plans to continue her volunteer work while attending Assumption University.
Briahna Bouchard, a Murdock High School graduate, has been awarded the David Jacques Memorial Scholarship, which celebrates the memory of long-time GFA supporter and former Board of Director member, David Jacques. Briahna is a hardworking and independent individual who served as National Honor Society President, Class Treasurer, and on the Student Council, while balancing dual enrollment classes at Worcester State University. Briahna will attend Franklin Pierce in the fall where she plans to study Health Science.
“The graduating class of 2021 is extraordinary for many reasons. Navigating the challenges of remote learning and the uncertainty surrounding the global pandemic, these students have continued to excel. As a community organization, it is more important than ever to help those around us. We are proud to provide these scholarships to two very deserving students from the class of 2021” Said Joshua I. Brier, President and Chief Executive Officer of GFA Federal Credit Union.
